Dear Pentti
Thank you so much again for another amazing day! I can't believe how much I
learn each time I come along to your school, and I know I have LOADS more to
learn but you teach so well that I can feel it sinking in each time which is
amazing! I just need to retain the information you give me now and then execute
it. I felt very rusty today so I apologise, but your teaching again was
awesome!
----------- Dear Pentti, Thank you very much to you and your team for putting on an excellent training day on Saturday. I thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt far more than I had anticipated. I have had my eyes opened to the extra control you can have over a front wheel drive car using the technique you showed us. The ABS demonstration was also a sobering exercise. You have a great training style putting me at ease instantly and you impart your knowledge clearly. On Sunday I was watching Men and Motors the used car show with my son when your Mitsubishi Starion rally car came on and the chap who owns described how he carefully looks after it. My son Michael was very impressed when I told him I had been out driving the previous day with Pentti the gentleman who used to rally it! ----------- Dear Pentti, Thank you so much for a simply amazing day! The Best Christmas present ever for me! I really don't know how to thank you enough! It was great to meet you and Paul. Mum and I couldn't stop talking about what fun it was! I learnt so much from your instructions and saw so much improvement in my own driving and how the car handled in such a short time that I'm really amazed! So thank you once again. I've written down everything you told me and I shall remember, and do, all of it! I look forward to hopefully meeting with you again soon. Happy New Year! ----------- Hi Pentti, Another champion to add to your list, Luke sealed his 206 1400 championship on the Bulldog rally. When it comes to driving a low power front wheel drive car your system makes all the difference. Luke developed a plan early in the year. These cars are very slow and fragile. We tested on gravel and found just how hard it was possible to push the car and when it would break, then we backed off to about 80% of the cars capabilities. This proved to be plenty fast enough. It also meant that luke just had to keep an eye on the times of his competitors and drive just fast enough to win. He still managed to set fastest stage times on all of the special stages completed all season except for 5 and then he was cruising to the event or championship. Many Many thanks for the help you gave Luke earlier in his career. the day at your school is one of the highlights. He is often asked who taught him to left foot brake and drive like he does. Other people have approached him with advice but when he tells them he is a pupil of Pentti they back off and leave him to it. ----------- "Dear Pentti, I wanted to contact you before the WRC but time ran out with all the preparations. I wanted you to know that we had the 10 metre rope in the boot ready and various other measures you recommended. We had a good programme to finish and did not need to rely on the super rally rules to be able to start on the 2nd and 3rd day. The car was fantastic given that it was it's first rally, the water temperature gauge stayed exactly on normal throughout the event (except to show even cooler on fast liaison sections), which amongst other things helped both Brian my co-driver and myself stay cool and relaxed throughout the whole event, unlike many other drivers including the top guys who were being pampered with cool blocks etc. We enjoyed it tremendously and were so unfortunate to lose a steering arm on the last stage, 5km before the finish. Whilst balanced on top of a hill, we were desperately attempting to recover and finish the rally, not realising it would take people 30 minutes to find us and an hour for the recovery vehicle to pull us out without damage. Unfortunately the car was obviously too delicately balanced and on too steep a hill for the rope to be used safely. My better driving throughout the event was when using left foot braking which assisted greatly with response time then being able to control the car when avoiding rocks on corners, hence very few punctures. I also had my note on the dash for the 1st day to remind me to look further ahead (this is very difficult but necessary on these rocky stages).
